October to March — India's golden travel window
15–25°C across most of India — comfortable for sightseeing, trekking, and outdoor activities without the summer heat or monsoon rain.
Gulmarg receives fresh powder December–February, Asia's best skiing terrain with the world's second-highest gondola ride.
Rann Utsav, Pushkar Camel Fair, Jaisalmer Desert Festival, and dozens of regional festivals all happen October–March.
Winter is prime tiger season — Jim Corbett, Ranthambore, and Bandhavgarh see peak animal activity and highest sighting rates.
Goa, Kerala, and Andaman are at their absolute best — clear skies, calm seas, and ideal temperatures October–February.
While popular, winter allows early-bird planning. Book November–January packages by August–September for best hotel and flight rates.
Everything you need to plan your 2026-27 winter holiday
India's best winter destinations are: Rajasthan (October–March — perfect weather for forts, deserts, and camel safaris), Kerala (November–February — best beach weather and lush green landscapes), Rann of Kutch (November–February — white salt desert and Rann Utsav festival), Goa (November–February — peak beach season), Kashmir and Gulmarg for snow and skiing (December–February), and Darjeeling for crisp Himalayan views.
Yes! Gulmarg in Kashmir is Asia's best ski resort, operating December–March. It has the world's second-highest gondola (Phase 2 at 4,390m). Skiing grades from beginner to advanced slopes are available. Certified ski instructors speak English. The gondola ride even in non-skiing season offers incredible views. Equipment rental and instructors are arranged by Luxytrix as part of the package.
Rann Utsav is Gujarat Tourism's iconic festival held in the Great Rann of Kutch — an enormous white salt desert that shimmers under the full moon. The festival runs November to February each year (2026-27 dates: November 2026 – February 2027). It features folk music, traditional crafts, camel and horse shows, cultural performances, and the stunning moonlit Rann walk. Tent City accommodation is included in Luxytrix's Rann Utsav package.
October to March is the ideal time to visit Rajasthan. Winter months (November–February) offer comfortable 15–25°C daytime temperatures — perfect for exploring forts, markets, and desert camps. The desert is pleasant rather than scorching. The Pushkar Camel Fair is in November. Jaisalmer Desert Festival is in January/February. Luxytrix's Rajasthan Winter Heritage package covers all 5 major cities in 7 nights.
Yes, Kashmir Valley (Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam) is safe and welcoming for tourists year-round, including winter. The Indian Army and state tourism infrastructure make it a secure destination. Winter snowfall (December–January) makes it incredibly scenic. Luxytrix operates Kashmir tours throughout the year and our team has on-ground contacts for real-time safety updates.
For Kashmir/Gulmarg: heavy wool layers, waterproof ski jacket, thermal innerwear, snow boots or gumboots (available on rent in Gulmarg), gloves, muffler, and balaclava. For Rajasthan winter: light jacket or sweater for evenings (it gets cold). For Darjeeling: medium warm jacket, layering recommended. For Kerala winter: light cotton — Kerala winters are warm at 25–30°C.
